Alabama Tornado Recovery
The Rock Hill UMVIM Team took a group of 16 to Sylvania, Alabama for 2 work days in the area. The two counties involved in the region had the highest number of fatalities in the state due to tornadoes. In that area alone, 109 families have requested assistance and there are many others waiting to be placed on lists for work teams.
One team worked on a home of a Baptist minister. The home was completely destroyed and so was the home of his mother. The mother died in the tornado.
The other team worked on the house of a widowed woman. This home was badly damaged by the tornado. Your prayers and financial support were most appreciated.
Please continue to pray for the residents of Alabama as well as those of others impacted by recent storms and those who volunteer to serve in those areas.
The Michael C. Watson Volunteer in Mission Award Winner!Congratulations to Lay Person Recipient, Marvin J. Horton for winning the Michael C. Watson Volunteer in Mission Award. Marvin has a great attitude and genuine compassion to help with other volunteers in the joy of serving others.
