Hand-in-Hand in Ministry Together
Finding good materials and new ideas is a challenge for every church. Here are some ideas to consider.

 

Events:

www.childrensdefense.org/site/PageNavigator/Childrens_Sabbaths = Organized by the Children Defense Fund, this observance encourages people to take time in prayer, study, worship, and mission to focus on justice issues related to the health and well-being of children everywhere.  CDF's National Observance of Children's Sabbaths® Celebrations encourage prayer, education and service to help children and families.  Congregations hold special worship services, education programs, and other activities to help people of faith learn more about problems facing children and poor families.
 
www.dwinchell.com = highly comical yet spiritually powerful program for all ages, focusing on concepts understandable from the age of four to a hundred and four. A single service (60 minutes) is packed with high energy comedy, music, magic ventriloquism, drama, trick cartooning, and a powerful inspirational and gospel message all the way through. Closing challenge is conducted in format most comfortable for each church.  $500 for a single service, with $300 for additional services in same event, plus 45 cents per mile, food and lodging if Dave stays overnight. Upon booking, church is provided with a publicity booklet with pictures, biography, news release, sample flyer layouts, clip art and other resources.

www.newberryoperahouse.com = Built in 1881 at a cost of $30,000 the Newberry Opera House has served as the City Centerpiece for 118 years.  The structure recently underwent a $5.5 million Renovation which restored it to its' Historic Splendor and converted it to a State of the Art Performance facility.  See the website for list of upcoming events and ticket information.

www.yorkcountyhabitat.org = Habitat for Humanity (HFH) is a nonprofit, ecumenical Christian housing ministry dedicated to building low cost houses with people in need.  Apostle's Build 2006 is underway where twelve churches will work together to build a house in twelve weeks. Each church will contribute 1/12 of the cost and provide a group of volunteers from their congregation for one Saturday.  Contact Rev. J. Recycle and Reuse Holiday Cards = Send holiday cards to St. Jude's Ranch, a nonprofit home for youth that collects old holiday cards for reuse. Either cut off the backs of the card of leave them intact. Children at St. Jude's earn money by creating new holidays cards from the old. We provide relief to hurting people displaced due to poverty, ravaged wars, and religious persecution.
